Putting the question upon a motion

25.49After a motion has been moved it is proposed from the Woolsack or the Chair (Standing Order No 27). This usually takes the form of the question ‘That this motion be agreed to’ without the terms of the motion being elaborated; but on the stages of bills and on some other occasions the full terms of the motion are put. Once the question has been put, debate on it may arise.
