Royal Assent

25.29Royal Assent may be notified at any convenient break between two items of business, if necessary after an adjournment. Notice is not required, though an indication is generally given on the Order Paper on a day when Royal Assent is expected. Where all items expected to receive Royal Assent are ripe, notification is usually given before oral questions. Royal Assent may also be signified by Commission, in which case a fixed hour is usually appointed, business being interrupted if necessary. However, this practice has fallen into disuse since the passage of the Royal Assent Act 1967, except at the end of a session (see paras 30.3630.40 ).
