Members voting in both lobbies
20.84Intentionally voting in both lobbies is an accepted way of cancelling out the effect of inadvertently voting in the wrong lobby. The Speaker has deprecated as ‘unparliamentary’ the practice of voting in both lobbies as a demonstration of a ‘third’ position.1 The Speaker has also confirmed that voting both ‘aye’ and ‘no’ in a deferred division would be recorded as ‘not voting’.2
